This week I finished the sixth piece in my inspired by music series. My goal is to complete a series of eight.
My #6 is inspired by the final movement of Tchaikovsky's last performed piece, Symphony #6. When I listened to this piece for inspiration, the color red became prominent in my mind. In the music, I got a feel of searching but not finding. Images of lenses and refracting became a dominant theme in my mind. The final strains of the music sound like a heart stopping to me. I wanted to capture the vibrancy of flowing blood but also the cold, grey landscape that was to come--something on the verge of ending . . . or being transformed.
Tchaikovsky died unexpectedly just days after he premiered this piece.
What piece to choose next . . . stay tuned.
Love the insight into this piece!
